Birding: December 2025

I ended 2025 with a bang of birding! We visited the Shawangunk Grasslands three times, with three different outcomes. I posted about two of them previously: no owls on the first visit, some short-eared owls hunting on the second. On the third, no owls but a very active Northern Harrier.

Back home, the front yard feeder brought in a lot of the local winter favorites: Dark-Eyed Juncos, Tufted Titmouse, Northern Cardinals, various woodpeckers, and more. Hope you enjoy the photo-dump—there’s a lot this month, and that’s after A LOT of culling.
